ESCAMBIA COUNTY, (FL) SCHOOL DISTRICT REMAINS CLOSED MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 AND TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 DUE TO HURRICANE SALLY
Posted 9/20/20

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that all schools and offices within the Escambia County School District will remain closed, Monday September 21, 2020, and Tuesday, September 22, 2020 (excluding the Maintenance Department where all personnel should report to work on Monday, 9/21, at 7 am).  Our Maintenance, Custodial and Facilities crews are working tirelessly to make sure our schools and buildings are safe and ready to resume normal operations.  “This is a dynamic situation subject to the restoration of water and power to both schools and families within the area,” stated Superintendent Thomas, “In addition, roads must be cleared and assessed prior to school buses returning to routes.”

As a result of the arrival of Hurricane Sally, the School Board of Escambia County rescheduled their Special School Board Meeting and Final Budget Hearing for Monday, September 21, 2020, to be held at 5:01 p.m. in Room 160 at the J.E. Hall Center, 30 East Texar Drive.  The September Regular School Board Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. also in Room 160, on Monday, September 21, 2020.

Superintendent Thomas will continue updating families and staff through automated telephone messages.  Parents and employees are encouraged to monitor district media sources, including the ECSD website.  Superintendent Thomas stated, “The safety of our students, families and staff continues to be our greatest concern.”
